General Information

Arrival Time: You will be able to get into the Banquet Hall (our work area) by 12 PM (eastern) on Thursday.

Check-in to the rooms is not until 3:00 PM eastern.  Keys to your rooms will be made available at that time.

*** Please note: We cannot refund your money if you cancel.  We understand that emergencies do occur, but we are obligated to pay for rooms whether or not they are used. ***

In case of emergency: Please fill out the I.C.E. form and place one by your bed and one at your sewing station.

LABEL ALL YOUR TOOLS!!!  Remember that scissors, rulers, rotary cutters, etc. all look the same. Return address labels are an easy way to mark your tools.

Rooms: There is no "room service," however they will provide you with clean towels daily. There are no TVs or telephones in the rooms. NO SMOKING is allowed in any of the buildings!! Also please bring money to tip the staff.

What to Bring to the CBQG Retreat

Tools and Supplies – bring what you need to work on your projects, use the list below for
ideas.
  1. Basic sewing kit: sewing machine, several extra wound bobbins, rotary cutter, mat, transparent quilting ruler, needles (hand and machine), thread, straight pins, tape measure, seam ripper & scissors.
  2. Ironing Board - we will share so not everyone needs to bring one
  3. Extension cord & power strip - the Banquet Hall had a good number of plugs & they provided some extension cords, but you might want an extra one.
  4. Task Light - the light is good in the Banquet Hall, but if you like to have a work light, bring one.
  5. Projects - bring more than one, so that if you get blocked, bored, etc you can move onto another project.
Food, beverages, snacks
  1. Water bottle, coffee mug, etc for your beverage of choice.  Water, ice and coffee
    (decaf) will be available.
  2. Snacks – bring anything you want for snacks, keep them at your work station.
There is no refrigerator, so if you bring something that needs to be cooled, bring a cooler.
    There is no microwave.

Clothing
  1. Comfortable layered clothes – the temperature of the room will never suit everyone.
  2. Dress is casual – shorts, slacks, etc.
  3. There are walking paths, so bring walking shoes, sunglasses,
hat, etc if you think you will be out and about.

Comfort
  1. A lawn chair – use on sewing breaks, or even outside on the
    balcony.
  2. Music – if you wish to listen to music, please use headphones.
  3. Chair cushion - for more comfortable seating at your work station.

To share
  1. A couple of magazines or books (make sure you have your name in them!) to share.  When you get bored, it is always fun to look through a new (to you) book or magazine.
  2. Your sense of humor and fun, spirit of cooperation, helpfulness and patience.
Retreat Challenge
  1. Your finished piece for this year’s challenge.

Money: Please bring money to tip the staff and purchase raffle tickets!!
